Manama Pursues Torture Policy to Suppress Oppositions
Bahraini regime practices the systematic torture policy against anti-regime detainees, the head of a fact-finding mission in Bahrain reported.
Hundreds of Bahraini people have been arrested and dozens have been killed by Saudi-backed monarchy since peaceful demonstrations started. Cherif Bassiouni who formerly did not believe systematic torture, have changed his mind, saying that he has found 300 cases of torture during his investigation which were systematic. "It is not possible to justify torture in any way, and despite the small number of cases, it is clear there was a systematic policy," Bassiouni said in an interview with Egyptian daily Almasry Alyoum. "I investigated and I found 300 cases of torture and I was helped in that by legal experts from Egypt and America," he added, Press TV reported.
Since the beginning of anti-regime movements in Bahrain in mid-February, hundreds of people have been arrested and several thousand Shi'ites lost their jobs for supporting the anti-regime movement. While countries like Saudi Arabia help Bahraini government to suppress protesters, Al Khalifa regime knows Iran responsible of recent unrests.
Witnessing high tension, Bahrainis continue nightly protests against the monarchy to put an end to the rule of the regime.
