Gaza Hospitals in 'State of Emergency'
Hospitals in the Gaza Strip are in critical condition, facing "humanitarian catastrophe", as lack of medicines and fuel threaten patients' life.
The head of public medical supplies in the Gaza Strip warned Thursday of an imminent "humanitarian catastrophe" in Gaza hospitals. According to the observer of ministry of health supplies in Gaza, Bassam Barhum, electricity generators would stop within a day or two if hospitals do not receive fuel. Barhum also said that operation rooms have already closed in Gaza City's Ash-Shifa hospital and the European hospital in Khan Younis because of fuel shortage, Maan News reported.
According to Dr. Muhammad Shatat, Deputy Director of al-Shifa's dialysis unit, real disaster will happen due to the severe lack of medicine. “The number of blood lines the hospital has got is only 200, while it was about 2200 in the previous months”, he said, Al Resalah reported.
Critical condition in the Gaza Strip is worsening and military solution is not responding; 'the only way to resolve this most stubborn of conflicts is for these two nations to divide the land between them into two states,'Huffington Post quoted Jonathan Freedland.
While Palestine seriously peruses bid for statehood in UN, Israel puts more pressure on besieged territories through airstrikes, demolition of Palestinian houses, and blockade.
