Syria's Ambassador to US: Washington Stirs Up Syrian Crisis

Syrian Ambassador in Washington, Dr. Imad Mustafa, has condemned US meddling in his country's internal affair, stating that Washington spares no effort to stir up the current crisis and harm Syria.

Mustafa who was talking with the Syrian TV on Saturday said the US had  role in the Syrian crisis, adding that the Obama administration is ready to do anything to prevent dialogue from being held in Syria, the Syrian Arab News Agency reported.

He emphasized that the Syrian Government has distinguished between the security and political sides of the crisis.  "Politically, the government is working to meet the demands of large sections of the Syrian people. Concerning security, the Syrian Government cannot allow, like all other countries of the world, the armed terrorist groups to commit crimes of killing against the Syrian people."

The Syrian Ambassador noted that for several times, the US Ambassador in Damascus, Robert Ford, has violated the Vienna Convention which regulates diplomatic relations among countries of the world.

Mustafa's remarks came after the US openly encouraged the Syrian rioters (whom they call "activists'') on Friday to bear and use arms and to not turn themselves in to the authorities, the AFP reported.
